A group of travel agents from Tashkent recently had the opportunity to experience one of Langkawi’s most distinctive activities: a visit to Lang Cooking School. Keen to discover something truly different from the usual sightseeing itinerary, the group was looking for an authentic, hands-on experience that would allow them to connect with local culture, nature, and food. They found exactly that.

Lang Cooking School is a stand-alone cooking school set within a working organic farm, offering far more than a traditional cooking class. From the moment the group arrived, they were immersed in the farm environment, surrounded by lush greenery, fruit trees, and vegetable plots. The experience began with a guided walk through the farm, where participants were introduced to the ingredients they would later use, learning about local herbs, spices, and sustainable farming practices along the way.

What made the visit especially memorable was the level of participation. Rather than simply observing, the travel agents were actively involved in every step of the process — from harvesting fresh produce to preparing traditional Malaysian dishes under the guidance of knowledgeable and welcoming instructors. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, encouraging questions, laughter, and plenty of interaction.

The cooking session itself was both educational and enjoyable, striking a perfect balance between learning new techniques and simply having fun. Even those with little cooking experience felt at ease, while more confident cooks appreciated the depth of insight into local flavours and methods. The shared meal at the end brought everyone together, allowing the group to enjoy the dishes they had prepared and reflect on the experience.

By the end of the visit, it was clear that every member of the group had thoroughly enjoyed the day. Many commented on how refreshing it was to step away from conventional tours and take part in something so immersive and genuine. For the travel agents from Tashkent, Lang Cooking School offered a deeper understanding of Langkawi beyond its beaches — showcasing its culture, community, and connection to the land in a way that will undoubtedly stay with them, and inspire future travellers they send to the island.
